ritz pix

Got my photos back from Ritz & I love them!
[they are square because I edited them in Photoshop before I sent them over]
Now they just need to go up on the wall :)

2012 new year's resolutions: c'mon everybody's doing it...

It's that time of year again...New Year's resolutions. I've never really been one to make resolutions because I don't think I've ever felt like I would follow through with any promise I've made to myself. So what if I promise God? My quiet time with God has been scattered here & there. Of course, I blame it on the fact that my time is spent taking care of our baby. But who blessed me with taking care of this baby? Beckette is His child first. He is her Heavenly Father & James & I are her earthly parents. Do I not owe it to Him to give Him some of my time each day to explore His word & give thanks for all the blessings I have? So that is my #1 New Year's resolution. To have my quiet time every day & read my Bible with my husband every night. And I guess #2 will be to lose the rest of my baby weight [10 more pounds to go, yes I can do this!] So what is everyone else promising to do this new year?

Baby Shower Activity Idea

Baby shower activities can sometimes be a little dull, so why not do something that will
actually go into the baby's scrapbook? [if you ever get around to it!]
This is something I made up for my baby shower
& it has been quite popular lately in my Etsy Shop!
It is something for everyone to fill out for the little one.

photo printing secret!

I am very excited to be able to start working on my mini-studio [of course not until after this crazy week is over]. No office space would be complete without a buttload of Beckette photos. So for those of you who don't know about this amazing deal from Ritz...you're welcome! [they also do the white borders for free]
This is the look I'm going for...

I can take any photo & turn it into a really cool looking painting. This works with any kind of animal [dog, cat, horse, bird, hamster, doesn't matter!] If you like this idea but don't have a picture of your friend's pet, that's okay! Gift certificates are available for the personal painting!

Monthly Photoshoots With Miss Beckette James

I refuse to be one of those people who look back on their babies' pictures & realize they hardly have any because they were too busy doing mommy things. So from now on, on the 29th of every month, I have a mini photoshoot with my little Beck. I take a bunch of pictures of her in just a plain white onesie, with a different headband for each month. I take the best nine, showing her many different expressions. It's going to be so fun to see how much she changes! If you are interested in editing your own baby's own photos into a collage, contact me thru Etsy by requesting a custom design.

Dresser Makeover

This is the dresser I bought from Ikea that I knew I had to re-do for Beckette's nursery. Here is the before photo...
This is the after...

Of course since it was from Ikea, it came in a trillion pieces, which in this case helped with the painting. Before I put the drawer fronts on the drawers, I painted them. I used a semi-glossy white paint with a brush. Once it was completely dry, I taped off the chevron stripes & used an aqua blue spray paint.

DIY Monday: Shabby Ruffle Burlap Lamp

These weeks have been pretty crazy with working still & planning for Beckette's "Le Bebe Shindig." I did get pictures of a project I did last Monday. I got the idea from a DIY project I found on Pinterest (if you don't have an account already, get one!). I purchased the burlap from Walmart (only $2.50/yard). The project originally came from the blog Tatertots and Jello

I decided to use a similar color blue for the base because I just love Tiffany Blue. This is what my Crate & Barrel lamp looked like before:

After following the directions from the blog & about 2.5 hours of work, this is what I got & I love it! I ended up doing a lampshade for Beckette's room too. I will post photos later :)

Super easy!

Do it Yourself Project Mondays

So I am starting Project Mondays. Monday is my day off during the week to get things done for my stationary business, but also get things ready for Miss Beckette to arrive. Her nursery is still not set up at all & her crib is still in the box, so I'd like to get things rolling. Once we get her furniture in place, I can start decorating. However, like most young expectant mamas & papas, we are on a budget so most "decor" will be DIY. But who cares? DIY is so much more fun & rewarding. Every Monday I will post photos of new DIY projects & explain how & what exactly I am doing. Fun! On my lunch break today, I will be going to Home Depot to get paint swatches, not for paint, but for this super easy, super fast & super cheap project. I am thinking of getting letter stamps to cut out her name in them & then framing them. I'll keep you posted!
